Originally a prestigious Russian ballet school,  a popular destination for ballet training among young girls in Chiang Mai. (It has since relocated to a new venue.), our property was later transformed into a refined residence, inspired by the timeless beauty of Thai-European architecture, also called Thai Colonial Style.

During the reign of King Rama V, European influences played a significant role in shaping local design, giving rise to a unique architectural style that blended Western aesthetics with traditional Thai elements. Captivated by the intricate craftsmanship of this era, owners Mrs. Pattaranid and Mr. Nattapon envisioned a space that would harmonize historical charm with contemporary comfort.

With a deep appreciation for classic design, they embarked on a journey to restore and transform the building into a warm and inviting home. Their vision was to create a small, intimate retreat where guests could feel like part of a family, offering a personal and homely experience distinct from staying in a large condominium.

The Restoration Journey

Our journey began in 2017, with the ambitious goal of transforming the former ballet school into a home that balances elegance and functionality.

With the expertise of Mr. Thep, a skilled local carpenter, and Mr. Lek, a talented Khmer contractor, we designed and crafted intricate wooden details that enhance the home’s authentic charm.

For the interiors, we commissioned custom-made furniture from Dao Handmade in Ban Thawai, a region renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship. Each piece was crafted from reclaimed teak wood sourced from old Thai houses—giving new life to aged timber while embracing sustainability and preserving cultural heritage.

The outdoor spaces were brought to life with lush greenery, including large, mature trees transplanted from Pa Auey’s nursery—creating a serene and natural setting for our guests. Mr. Khajorn, a seasoned pool specialist, constructed a saltwater swimming pool. Though this system requires a greater investment than traditional chlorine pools, it offers better health benefits and is much gentler on the skin—perfect for long, relaxing swims.

Every detail was thoughtfully chosen and lovingly crafted with one goal in mind: to make every guest feel truly at home.
